Contractor Tools for Your Bottom Line.

Work In Progress Reporting

Accurate, timely Work In Progress (WIP) reporting is essential to completing jobs on time and on budget. If you get a Work In Progress report on Monday based upon last Monday's data, your decisions will already be a week behind actual costs. And, you will be unable to make the critical decisions necessary to shift resources between jobs should the jobs warrant. This either costs you delays in time and money or does not allow you to best optimize resources that save you time and money.

The data integration tie between all ComputerEase modules means that data entered into one area of the system is automatically updated throughout the system. Issuing a purchase order, committing a cost to a job, is automatically reflected in all other relevant areas of the system for that job. Because ComputerEase is a fully integrated construction management system, it provides you with exactly what you need - accurate, Work In Progress reporting data and actual costs in "real time." This ability to make accurate and timely decisions equals more profitable jobs and more profit.

"I couldn't imagine doing it without ComputerEase"

I couldn't imagine doing it without ComputerEase. It, it would be an impossible task to, with that volume of work, that level of jobs, and, and the timeframe which we, we, within which we work. What's so strong and, and, and so, so vibrant with ComputerEase as a software package is that I can rapidly pull, by job, the contract values, I can pull the cost, both cost to date for the job, cost in the period in the job, and I can pull it by a number of, of different uh, ways. I can pull it f, for the job as a whole. I can pull cost data by phase, or I can pull cost data by category. And some of our jobs will be jobs within a job. For example, we'll have all of our minor jobs set up in one composite job with the minor jobs set up as phases. And then that way by the features of ComputerEase I can look and see the different costs per the various many jobs set up as phases. And again, it makes the job so easy to do, and again I, I couldn't even, I couldn't even think of doing it without ComputerEase.

Whether, as you mentioned, whether they're on ComputerEase or they're on QuickBooks or whatever software they're using, the most important aspect to any contractor is the work in progress reporting. It's the lifeblood, it's where cash flow starts, it's where profitability starts, it's where cash flow ends. Uh, and if a contractor cannot gather information uh, seamlessly and with little effort, he's not going to be able to manage that job and know if the uh, for example, in a cement contractor, he's not going to know if his flatwork phase is over budget or under budget until that budget and that phase is complete. If he doesn't know that he's over budget until he’s complete, then he's going to be out of luck. You know, the change order times may be gone, he can't issue a change order to it. ComputerEase in that, basically enables that contractor to break those jobs down into sub phases, if you will, many jobs inside of a larger job and allows him to analyze that job with virtually no, no extra effort, no extra data entry because once payroll's input, once billings are done, and once AP and purchase orders are issued, all of that information basically seamlessly flows into the job center.

Knowing when we're in trouble on a project is far, far more important than knowing that we're profitable, identifying that in the front end uh, by prebuilding and doing some uh, common assembly work or prefab work in our off, uh, here in our warehouse, we're able to, we're able to control the exposure.

We have much better communication with our field employees. We use email a lot through the ComputerEase system, emailing reports, emailing employee updates, job updates. So it has streamlined our process very much. It's also given the field employees a better idea of where they stand on certain jobs and the progress of those jobs.

Work in progress, uh, which is derived basically from all costs to complete is important uh, from two aspects. One, uh, you know, if we don't have accurate costs to complete and accurate work in progress, then people tend not to believe your numbers and that's key to us in establishing credibility with the banks, with the bonding companies. Uh, if our jobs show a lot of slippage at the end because we didn't accurately forecast, didn't accurately do a work in progress, then we tend to uh, lose credibility with the banks and the bonding companies and, without either one of those parties, we're kinda dead in the water.
