Contractor Tools for Your Bottom Line.

Accurate Equipment Costing

Equipment is your most expensive asset. Tracking equipment costs beyond initial purchase costs like costs-to-own and costs-to-operate are vital to effective equipment management. How do you know that the costs being charged to a job accurately reflect all other factors such as fuel costs and how heavily the equipment is being used?

In reality, is charging $100 per hour for a particular piece earning money or costing money? ComputerEase puts the equipment cost information back in your control. The system tracks every cost associated with owning and operating each piece of equipment and reports the true hourly cost. Effective equipment management helps add to your company's profits.

What we would do is, take the piece of equipment, estimate the useful life of the equipment and then take some, another market, like, if I had to go out and I had to rent. Let's say I had to rent that Bobcat. How much would I pay to go rent it? Now, that's not truly gonna be our cost nor our replacement cost but you can take a percentage of that, maybe 60 to 70% of what it would cost to rent and figure out how much life you think that has and how many productive hours you're gonna get out of it and it allows you to track it. So if I'm going and I'm billing, you know, $1,200 for a week of renting that piece of equipment, I can calculate how much, if that job is, is covering that cost and that job gets allocated that cost, I can there, therefore measure and manage at what point in time did I make my return on my investment and now I have profit that I now can put in a money market or an escrow fund to replace that piece of equipment so that I don't have to worry necessarily about financing it or leasing it because, basically, I'm building it into my profits because I'm accounting for that in that job profitability.

What I like about ComputerEase is that it’s very user friendly. It’s very easy to use, and it’s very easy to learn. Just starting the equipment module, I have found that, uhm, as I add the equipment in or delete old equipment, uhm, it’s a very smooth transition.
